A child has been born to us, God has given a son to us. He will be responsible for leading the people. His name will be Wonderful Counselor, Powerful God, Father Who Lives Forever, Prince of Peace.    Isaiah 9:6

It’s amazing how smart your parents seem the older you get. You begin to understand this when you have children of your own. I remember asking for things as a child that my father would say I was too young for. No child likes to hear “no.” Now that I have children, I get to experience this for myself and have a much better understanding, both as a child and as a parent.

In life we think we know what is best for us. I love this passage in Isaiah. It says God has “given us” His Son, that He will be responsible for us, that He will be our counselor, our God of power and peace forever. We have a tendency to forget that God knew us in our mother’s womb. He saw us there and has kept His eyes on us ever since. He knows us better than we know ourselves.

Take a moment today to meditate on the One who knows you best. He knows what you need in every moment and circumstance. Do not fret when He is not doing what you want, because He will give you what you need. He knew we needed a Savior and sent Him exactly how we needed and when we needed. He is with you now and forever.
