So I tell you, don’t worry about the food or drink you need to live, or about the clothes you need for your body. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothes. Look at the birds in the air. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, but your heavenly Father feeds them. And you know that you are worth much more than the birds.    Matthew 6:25-26

Has the possibility of something good ever caused you fear or apprehension before you were able to transition to faith?

When I read the story of Mary I can’t help but speculate a little. Hebrew custom meant the marriage between Mary and Joseph was probably an arranged marriage.  Mary at the age of 13 or 14 was now faced with being wed to Joseph, someone who was probably a bit older and with whom she had not spent a lot of time.  How would you feel under these circumstances?

When Gabriel appeared to Mary she needed reassurance, not to fear. Sensing her thoughts about his announcement, he tells her of Elizabeth’s pregnancy and that nothing is impossible with God.  Mary is now faced with the reality of being a pregnant virgin. She could be put to death if Joseph exposed her.

Mary was given the most amazing honor of all time, becoming mother to the Messiah.  Can you imagine her fear, being asked by her family and friends, questions she cannot answer?  When do you think her fears became faith?  What caused that faith to overcome all the unanswered questions?

Fear can be such an immobilizing thing. Are you facing something  that brings you fear?  Could it be a new opportunity full of potential that seems overwhelmingly big; or circumstances you don’t have all the answers to.  Many things cause fear. We cannot let fear of our circumstances become bigger than faith in our Creator.

Take a moment to meditate on how big God. His answer to your dilemma is always “Nothing is impossible for Me.”
